little obsessions DEMO

    part I.   little obsessions
instrumental

    part II.   miss greene
long red hair and deep brown eyes
she walked off the screen and into my dreams
leaving me romanticizing like she was someone i knew
never though it could hurt like this
first leading role and her first movie kiss

and though i wish i could meet her, i don't think i should
cause if i drowned in her eyes, wouldn't swim if i could
heaven shouldn't be wasted on people like me
but i can't help myself loving kerri greene
    miss kerri greene

sweet savoire' faire and heart string sighs
with a voice like silk that floats on the breeze of desire
no movie magic could conceal her
i never though it could hurt like this
looking straight at me, but somehow she missed

and though i wish i could hold her, it wouldn't be wise
cause she'd melt me like fire that was poured over ice
it's so hard to believe she could truly be real
such a strange fascination with kerri greene

step by step, day by day
        don't look down or away
or these little obsessions are gonna get you some day
        some day.......

living a romance that doesn't exist
caught in the looking glass, how does one cease and desist
young man so harmless, but he can't let her go
he never wanted to frighten the girl
but there's no one like her in the world

and if it isn't obsession, then is it respect
when you become public property, what do you expect
just let life go on living itself up there on the screen
and as a face in the crowd i'll keep loving you miss greene

part III.   you don't know me
a number scrawled on the bathroom wall of the bar across the street
the epitaph of the dozen daughts that knocked him off his feet
for a good time call 555-6942

the morning crew missed a thing or two on their rounds at half past five
and the social bricks, up to their old tricks no later than half past nine
it was a busy day for busy fingers with mischief to do

but she wasn't home when the telephone
    met the answering machine
and the gin stained voices howled away
leaving the message tape no peace
and at the end of the day when she pressed play
it was a shocking break in routine
white faced in the corner in the afterglow she cried

       you don't know me
       you don't know me

no average joe sitting diner row if it's morning, noon, and night
cause it looks to me he's there to cop a feel or to get into a fight
you can see it as the dancer clings to the other side of the stage
now he's looking on like he's found the one he want's to take away
why's a pretty thing like you in this ring, let's get out of this place
can't he see her answer mirrored in her adolescent face

it wasn't her dream to be a beauty queen
just to get out and see the world
cause she want's to make her own mistakes
instead of being a little girl
so she turns her head and silently prays
that he doesn't make a scene
cause though she'd like a prince to come along
    not this one.......

       you don't know me
       you don't know me
       you don't know me
       you don't know me

no miss greene, i don't know you, you don't know me
no one knows me like i do
